USDA Crop Assistance Program funds 75% of costs to plant and harvest trees for incinerators

by James Maloy, President of the Concerned Citizens of Gadsden County, Inc.

This evening I was on a panel at a public meeting about the proposed Biomasss Incinerator where I was heckled by individuals who accused me of providing misinformation to the public about the massive subsidies that will be paid for by the US taxpayer to plant and harvest trees to be burned in incinerators to create energy.

I stated that the taxpayer would fund up to 75% of the cost to plant trees and 75% of the cost to cut the trees down. The information is undeniable and accurate. You can read all about the USDA Crop assistance program here and decide for yourself who was providing accurate information.

James, as usual, has done his homework. The heckler and that part of the audience which appoved the heckler’s comments are evidence of both the rank ignorance and abject denial of factual information that is so much of the “wisdom” of the plant’s proponents.

I’m glad you followed up on this and, further, hope Jan Rogers will use his bully pulpit to set the record straight; to “document” the issue.

My wife and I were at the above referenced “information” meeting hosted by the City of Gretna, Fl. at the Nat. Guard Armory and I can tell you that I was EMBARRASSED by the level of ignorance displayed by those who heckled James Maloy and accused him of deciminating “false information.” There’s an old saying which goes “None so blind as he who WILL NOT see.” This certainly applies to those who willfully “close their eyes” to the solid, irrefutable facts of the case as presented by James Maloy. Wake up Gretna. Those few dollars you “earn” by burning up our forests won’t go very far when you’re layin’ up in I.C.U. fighting for your life–gasping for breath and toting an oxygen bottle around.
